Project: Amusing Ourselves to Death in 2019 (https://postmantheprophet.wordpress.com/)

Description: I completed a semester-long project updating Neil Postman's book 'Amusing Ourselves to Death.' I went chapter by chapter taking notes on ideas and statements throughout and posted excerpts to discuss more in-depth, often linking them back to modern-day topics. Oftentimes Postman was, as the website title states, a prophet of sorts. His ideas from 1985 carry over to this very day, and it was an incredible journey to comb through all his teachings and find those connections. (Julie Smith)

Q: What do you like the most about Webster?

A: I've loved the sense of community that Webster has. No matter where I go on campus, there's always a familiar face to talk to. Everyone wants to help everyone else succeed, there's no limit to what you can do so long as you ask. Professors have been more than willing for years to create independent studies or projects that help me and other students go beyond what we ever imagined, and there have always been friends for support along the way as well.

Q: What are some future academic or professional goals that you have?

A: I hope to someday be a freelance photographer that works in the St. Louis area. I've loved my internship as a staff photographer and I would like to continue to grow in that area to eventually be able to run my own business and be able to take on many more clients and projects in the future.
